SPACE + MATERIALITY: Assignment 2 -3 Videos to watch + written reflection-

I agree with Alice Rawsthorn that all designers are dreamers. Dreamers are people who strive to find an answer to a question, and that question is a dream. Whether it is to create a gown or design a robot that can explore Mars it all starts with a dream. . . a wish to make that happen. Like Paolo Antonelli said “Design is misinterpreted. . . They think design is someone who picks fabrics. Design is solving a problem.”  These words guide designers to challenge themselves and innovate beyond the imaginable. 3D design is hard; many people get stuck on the idea of what a chair is, or how we should drink water. Instead we have to break the ice and  change how people perceive the world, and how they live their lives.  This is best illustrated by Ross Lovegrove who creates “fat free designs” that have purpose as well as create an emotion. Design has to be more over produced objects that have been around for decades. These talks have helped my understanding of 3D design because design is not just creating something for yourself, but solving a problem and changing the world.
