Nature and Symbolism

The following drawings were from a trip to The High Line in the Chelsea Neighborhood. It was a breezy day so I also tried showing the movement within the plants as well.

In this class activity, we were experimenting with words and their symbolism and how to visualize both the word and symbolism.

The following three are thumbnail sketches of what the final product could look like, a guideline for the final product. It combined both elements of visual text and symbolism as well as nature.

As a final project, I tried to incorporate the objective of this assignment in more depth to my final result. The symbolism for a fern and daisy stands for innocence, sincerity, and love. In modern times, the daisy is used as an indication for one’s feelings. When each petal is plucked, each stands for a dictation of the feeling, the last standing petal determines the feelings involved. In this image with the two plants together representing love, the petals are seen falling after being plucked. The plants are done with watercolor and the background done entirely digitally, the two layers were combined and intertwined digitally and finished with the text.
