This evening dress by Valentino was designed to be dedicated to the heroins of opera. With it’s familiar and large graphics, this dress was simply portraying the interaction between Adam and Eve. Designed in 2014, this modern day couture dress was created for modern extravagant events and galas.
This dress is interesting due to its large graphics. Adam and Eve are largely displayed together on the front with animals and fruits of the garden. It is a simple and familiar design. The theme of The Garden of Eden and its purity and fertile start in this renaissance-like piece is evident.
This piece was done through many sheets of sheer material layered and the graphic design of the dress over the sheer material.
Negative space is deifnitely present through the sheer portions of the dress where the skin underneath is exposed. other areas with stronger use of fabric are darker therefore little to none skin/negative space is shown.
