Immersive Storytelling Discussion 2

It was interesting to learn about the first computer.  Interesting to read about the essential causes of human computer activity and all of the forces that shape it. I enjoyed reading about Aristotle and understanding why things are the the way they are; how understanding how things work is necessary if one is to know how to make them. I really enjoyed reading Chapter 3. I learned a lot and am able to apply what I read to what I am studying and want to create: immersive virtual reality. I think it’s interesting as a designer/artist/creator to put yourself in your audiences shoes and understand what gives the audience/viewer pleasure: what stimulates their imagination and emotion; how them having the freedom to discover the limits of what is possible in the world that you create/immerse them in is what could essentially define the success of your creation. How drama and storyline play a big role; how important it is to think about the introduction, rise, climax, return or fall, and catastrophe of your storyline/narrative. It was interesting to read about how all of this plays a roll in computer interaction. Even though I’m studying technology, I still automatically associate computer interaction as unemotional even though that is definitely not always the case.  In chapter 4, it was interesting to read about the artistry within the constraints of the medium and structure and how structure and artistry are interdependent of beauty is to be the result.
