Procedural: composed of executable rulesThe Four Affordances — everything made out of electronic bits is potentially:

  • Participatory: inviting human action and manipulation of the represented world
  • Encyclopedic: containing very high capacity of information in multiple media formats
  • Spatial: navigable as an information repository and/or a virtual place

What I find interesting about this reading is that these four properties are the context for all of our design choices.  To me, that is pretty crazy to think about/hard to wrap my head around…

“These four properties constitute our design space, the context for all of our design choices”.
