Touch of Sin. We Are the Best

This is the scene in “Touch of Sin” when she runs back to the married man and tries to get him off the train but he leaves her alone instead. This scene was most memorable for me because in some sense it was a foreshadowing of the abuse she would later endure by other men. It kind of sets up the scene for her to return to her shittier life and forget about the life she might of had with the other man. Than after dealing with the mans wife, her thugs, and later the cocky business men who wouldn’t take no for an answer, she had, had enough. This scene sets the mood for the frustration she will later have that boils up to a point of complete violence, something she seemed terrified of after but in the moment I really enjoyed. It is also a good representation of the breaking points that occur with all the characters, all ending in some form of death, violence or both.

This is the scene from “We Are the Best” when they steal alcohol from her older brother’s party and attempt to get drunk in her room. This ends with them feeling sick, Bobo embarrassing herself in front of the older brother who she has a crush on, and resulting in her throwing up as depicted above. This was most memorable to me because I felt like it was one of the first and more relatable scenes of coming of age. They want to be cool and have fun like the older kids by drinking alcohol but to overall ended in failure since they were so young. This also helped Bobo realize that she did have a crush on a boy which is a new feeling for her as well as the early signs of puberty (coming of age). Overall it ended like most young teenagers trying alcohol, getting sick and regretting their actions.
