This piece is eco friendly because of the materials that are used in it and the plants that are involved. The piece is made out of tempered glass that can be recycled and/or made out of recycled glass. Once the piece is no longer in use the hinges and clamps can be taken off of the glass and it can be melted down and used again. Inside the glass pieces are air plants on a wire frame. These are plants add depth to the piece and purify the air by removing chemicals and adding a high oxygen content.
This piece is socially engaging because of the way that the desk is designed so that the front of the desk is comfortable for a person to stand at and for the receptionist to talk over. The interaction of the plants and the way that the top of the desk opens so that the plants can be watered forces interaction with the desk, as well as the appeal of the plants inside the desk that can start conversation while people are waiting to be helped.
