1.

This is an artwork that I have created, but the purpose of showing this image is to represent my culture and where I am from. The language on the pillow is Mandarin, which is the main language in China. In China, there are two options for you to learn and write Chinese, either you can choose to learn traditional Chinese or simplify Chinese. However, this two options only exist in how the letters are formed in writing. When speaking there are no differences, it still sounds the same. At this point, it is obvious that I am Chinese and I was born in Chinese, Jiangsu; but I moved to Shanghai for primary school and Secondary school.

2.

This is the Lee Ufan Museum that I have visited when I went Naoshima, Japan for this summer holiday. Lee Ufan is a minimalist artist that creates paintings, sculptures, and writings. In the late 1960s, he was a part of the Mono-ha group of 20th century Japanese artists, where they experience natural and industrial materials in their artworks. I particularly enjoyed his artworks, since I have an interest in minimalism art and it is the type of art I want to explore more in my artworks.

3.

I went to Canada for half of my kindergarten and went back again to Canada for high school. Wearing a tie is a part of our uniform, but when you get to grade 12, you will receive a new tie; which is shown above. This tie is an object that represents my high school and the memories in Canada.
