Blind Contour Drawing

In class, we did the blind contour drawing, where we can not look at the paper and draw your partner without lifting the pen/pencil. My partner who is sitting beside me is Zen and we both drew each other. I find it interesting and weird at the same time that the way we draw effect each other.  As you can see, the left side image shows our drawings and the style of it look alike. I believe this happens because when we are drawing, we also can see each other’s hand. Therefore, if one person draws faster, the other person will be effected and do the same. Since it is a 10-minute blind contour drawing, it is hard to keep the lines simple and minimal which I wanted to. As result, both of us end up building up lines in the drawing.
