Reflection Bridge 1 Fake

Bridge 1                                       Reflection                                           4.10.2017

How did your experiences in Studio and Seminar inform each other throughout the process of writing and making Bridge 1?

I guess, making us do 100 drawings of our memories really helped to see and understand the styles and thinking of each other. Thereby we drained our eye to watch out for the details that make each and every one of us a unique or not. You learn to be open for everything. You reflect upon your own work and begin to question everything. Through that you get to a point where your voice, your character and your story comes to live. This the point where I feel one can play with fake and real memories in a creative piece. Meaning that my experiences in Studio and Seminar class helped me to distinguish between fake and real moments of time and how I can use them in a powerful way to raise a voice in society.

What did you discover about your work and yourself through revision?

I discovered that I love to show society the reality of today which I do through abstract and expressive forms in Studio class. In Seminar class I most often use irony or humor to mirror reality.

Why did you choose to revise either the real or imagined memoir for your final draft?

I chose to revise my real memoir because this piece truly reflects how I feel, act and think right now in this moment of time.

What was your intention for the final memoir, and how do you feel you conveyed that intention?

It is a piece that should show society who I am as a person and make them understand how I feel about the Fashion world. It’s my voice, my character, my vision of the now and future me and I want this to be heard.

What risks did you take in this project? What risks did you decide against taking? Why?

My challenge and risk was working with Paper Mache to make my design of my head collection real. It was hard getting the heads into form but remember some techniques from Kindergarten and sketching my ideas before making them was indeed a great help. I decided against making wearables out of Paper, because I wanted to try out something new by making a head collection. And I decided against my fake memoir because this was not reflecting who I am as a character, it was rather I dream version of myself which I don’t want to share in public.

From this point onward, how would you like to improve as a writer and creator over the course of the semester?

I would love to be an even better “maker” by getting my ideas in my designs across more precisely. In addition, I would like to enrich my vocabulary and get an even more precise writer.
