Perspective drawings
In this semester’s drawing and imaging course we also explored, studied and drew using 1, 2 and 3 point perspective. We drew in hallways, at windows looking down or up at the buildings we drew, and in the New York Public Library. In other words, we had the opportunity to experience various places with several perspectives and vibes.
We started off by drawing 1 and 2 point perspectives of views around our school. Doing several sketch book drawings, watching videos of perspective drawings and seeing past student example drawings really helped to understand the theory of perspective.

Transforming a 2 point perspective photo into a a Photoshop Montage
In continuation of our perspective study we chose a photo of the NYPL, which we turned into a montage using adobe Photoshop. We learned to work with value to communicate the light and dark areas of the photo.
In our first montage we were asked to create a black and white composition using a 9-step grey scale. We needed to pay careful attention to the brightness and contrast of the photo/montage, and to use the pen tool to make the curves of the arches perfectly smooth. We also were encouraged to incorporate realistic objects into our montage to play with different medias. I decided to include the realistic lamp and arches from the photo in my montage.
