Bridge 3 Studio: Zero-waste Sneaker 2018
What if we can grow & print our own clothes from synthetic and natural biology…?
Why does the world need a new sneaker?
What can I do better?
My need of creating a pair of sneakers that encapsulate the new tomorrow, where synthetic and organic biology help fashion be more eco-friendly then polluting. The “me to” action to make fashion more unique and sustainable.
The idea was inspired by a conversation I had with my friend while were eating bagels like every Sunday… I told her that I desperately want to make a shoe that uses spider silk/silkworm silk as a mesh that would encapsulate the shoe like socks do.. after a few moments of silents she told me that she order aunts for her last projects from an online insect farm who sold it to her… she continued maybe there is something like that for silkworms too and we googled it. After I come back from our Sunday brunch I immediately ordered silkworms from an insect farm and they arrived one week later with food that I had to cook for them in a small packages saying alive insects caution!
