Memoir: Selfie Grid

 Finding “order” in the “chaos”.

For this assignment, I worked with the dualism ‘order’ and ‘chaos’ along with an object that means something to me – a God (that I religiously worship) embossed onto a silver square plate. This was a gift from my grandmother to protect me and give me strength. Since the assignment was a self portrait I incorporated the colour red as it reminds me of home. A red wall in my room reflects the colour throughout the space.

The border of the grid contains 14 images of places where I have found order among chaos in New York. Besides spotting the colour red, being an advocate of extreme organisation- symmetry and repetition brings me calmness. Other images include places that I have visited with my family in past visits to the city as well as symbols of a new beginning or the next phase of my life at Parsons.

The 6 images in the centre are a literal representation of the selfie grid or memoir fused together with comfort(order) due to the red tint in the images.
