For this assignment we were asked to select an idea or object and to ask questions about it. Instead of writing down the questions that came to our head we were supposed to draw them out or render them.
The first object of significance that I thought of was a small idol of a Hindu Goddess- Laxmi, gifted to me by my grandmother before I left home for college. Even though personally I am not religious, my family is extremely religious and thus celebrate every festival with alot of enthusiasm. This often raises question about Atheism, brotherhood or fraternity, distinctions, discrimination, societal pressures, labelling and identity confusion. I have also questioned my actions and which religion stands by the morals taught to me in my childhood ; whether I want to escape such a society or live in harmony with the orthodox ideals of our ancestors. I rendered all such questions in an abstract sketched up collage.
