Where We Walked

For our final studio project, we were supposed to create a walk for our systems. My system was Instagram and its impact on restaurants and cafes in Soho. There were a set of instructions with a map. Taking the 14thstreet subway, following signsDowntown and Brooklyn Express N, Q,I asked everyone to get off at Canal street station and walk to Nomo Soho Kitchen from where the walk was supposed to start. While going towards the restaurant, walkers were asked to observe their surroundings and see where else they’d like to take a picture to post on Instagram. Once they reached Nomo Kitchen, they had to take pictures of themselves and decide if it aesthetic enough to post on their Instagram, or to put it up as a story. Everyone’s definition of aesthetic is different! Then they were asked to walk to Pietro Nolita and do the same. Once they finished the walk, they were asked to upload these pictures, tag themselves, put a hashtag and a caption on the given Instagram account.
