Reading & Writing Response #2: How We Became Posthuman

This reading was a bit difficult to understand. I think this is primarily because of the array of topics covered within the few pages we were assigned to read. From cybernetics, autopoiesis, and the platonic backhand, I was left with several questions regarding each topic but few answers to them each individually. Instead, the reading focused more so on the interconnectivity of the subjects in relation to post humanity. Despite this,  here’s what I took away from it overall:

Post humanity can be viewed from an abstract perspective. This is because life and humanity as we know it can be viewed from the same perspective. Our understanding of humanity is based upon the information we have in the present and the precedence left from those before us. Because of this, how we understand and interpret this information is complex and one that mimics an unsolved mystery.
