Polaroids of the Past

Map 1-Passage Vivienne

I took many pictures of different things during my visit to Passage Vivienne; the mosaic floor, the ceilings, stairs, and poles. I focused mostly on the architecture of the passage because I found it to be the most amusing. I combined the pictures and made a collage. My choice was to make it vintage because of the passage being ancient, so I used a polaroid template. Also, with each image I played with the lightings to have an ‘ancient’ theme.

Home to Parsons: How did I get here?

The Route of My Blood

I painted on my hand the most significant countries that represents me; Kuwait, Lebanon, and Paris. I included these as a part of my journey because being in Kuwait my whole life and my nationality being Lebanese encouraged me to study in a new city with a new culture. The yellow lines represent the most important streets to me (names), which demonstrate the relationships I encountered throughout my journey. I decided to do the map on my hand as a way to show what’s ‘in my blood’.

Walls of Belville

I took many pictures of graffiti in Bellville, however my focus was on the most appearing or attention grabbing colors for each graffiti piece. I used a certain fabric and constructed a 3D figure of the map of Bellville. I chose the colors from each picture of graffiti I took and sewed it however I felt it should be on the fabric.

Parisian Essential

Habits Map

Smoking being a big habit for a lot of people in Paris, I decided to take pictures of people smoking on the street, any of my friends, and myself, and made a collage to show the different gestures of how people hold cigarettes.
