Enclothed Cognition

“Did you cut your hair?”

“omg I love your hair”

“your hair looks different”

I heard many of these things during my enclothed cognition. On Tuesday the 17th I cut my own hair in my dorm to complete this experiment. Many of the reactions I got through out the day were positive and a few were confusing. When I cut my hair a lot of people didn’t ask if I had cut it but if I had dyed the color. This was interesting because while my hair is dyed black it was not dyed for this experiment. Through out the day most people had given the same reaction and when I told them I had cut it myself they were even more impressed. “omg you cut it yourself?” “its so even” “it looks really good”. A lot of people told me I looked older with it shorter a bit so it was quite the confidence booster. I felt really happy with people not only complimenting my hair but my work on cutting my hair. Overall I think I embodied a more positive persona because of all the compliments I received. It helped me feel more confident in myself, and I felt really nice because I would want to compliment people back when they noticed I changed.
