I am most interested in looking at Roma Culture (most commonly know as Gypsies) and how their culture has been appropriated. I noticed that there are many horrible sterotypes about the Roma people and I wanted to do more research to find out the truth. While doing more and more research on the topic I found that in fashion they are appropriated a lot. A LOT. The ‘boho’ look contains direct influences from their culture and who they are. I want to know more about traditional Roma dress and traditions. When I was doing preliminary research I began to get excited to dive in more to this topic which helped me realize this is what I should focus on rather than my other two topics. This map was helpful for me to visualize what I want to do for this and also what I can do for my counter part in studio. Overall, I feel like I have a good start to this project.
