For our material binders we had to explore three techniques in addition to the ones we all had to do. I looked at knitting, embroidery, and screen printing. I did a hand knit pearl stitch which came out nicely and was fairly simple to do, however, I don’t think I will be using it on my final project. I did block printing which required me to carve a block and hand place my print, this was a bit harder but a cool technique, I want to use this on the bottom of my pants for the final. Finally, I did a simple embroidery pattern which I liked and will use on the shirt sleeves of my final garment.
My final piece is based on a paper for seminar where I am exploring Romani people and cultural appropriation. This will be a fun and cool project I think. Below is a picture of my techniques and my final project sketch.
