For my studio project I focused on reusing old clothes and turning them into blankets in order to help those in need with something that will keep them warm and happy. After doing research about fast fashion production and our consumption habits as individuals, I decided to focus on sustainability of clothes and the importance of reusing clothes as an alternative to preserve the environment. Two blankets were created for this project in order to analyze the possibility of actually making this work in an organization and having volunteers make the blankets. I analyzed which was the fastest and most practical way of doing it, how long it would take and how many people.

This was the first blanket created.

It took one person, 6 hours and a sewing machine. Although this is the nicest and most comfortable blanket, it is double sided which takes longer to make and it is not very practical.

This blanket took 3 people, 100 safety pins and two hours. Although this blanket doesn’t look as good as the other, it is more practical to create and takes less time.
