This is the starting point of the project. The object I chose was my pen. And on the bottom there are several ideas we had in the beginning, a piano, a chair or a bag.
Then we decided to do a bag because we think it would be really cool and my friend saw a GUCCI bag in a concept store the other day and it is made of bamboo, that bag is priced at 2000 Euro. That is also why we decided to make this bag. This is the sketch of the shapes we are going to make.
We first chose to do a trapezoid and we have the sketched of all the details(Length of each piece according to the ratio 1:8)
Then we find it really hard to make each piece of a different size so we changed our design and made it a rectangular shape.

We actually met a problem during the cutting process because the board we need is long and the tool we have in class are not able to help us to cut, we went down to the tech lab and used the bandsaw to cut.
We struggled a lot when we were putting all the pieces together. This is us trying to put the nails in since the width of the wood board is not so thick, we need to be quite precise so that it goes perfectly into the wood.
We also tried to tie each piece together but it didn’t work because it was not stable enough.
This is us marking the point of the where the nail should be in so that it would be in the middle.

For all the pieces on the side we chose to tie them together with metal wires and it is part of the design.
We also put leather on both sides to make it more pretty.
