Studio 2: Final Project

Topic

For the final project, I want to do something to represent the when people religious believe in religions, they would become really small and the belief would become huge for them.

Original Concept

My original concept was using the honey to draw a shape of Buddha’s head, and attracting ants to follow the shape. However, I faced lots of challenges and I could not finish that before the last class. Therefore, I used my plan B concept which has same topic but using another way.

Process

I arranged the black pepper to the shape of Buddha’s head, and took 37 pictures during the process. Then, I used these pictures to make a stop motion video. I want to using this way to convey that religions become stranger and stranger is because more and more people believe in them. Such as Buddhism, in traditional Chinese culture, Confucianism and Taoism were considered indigenous and Buddhism was introduced from ancient India. However, in modern China, Buddhism is considered the largest religion in China and has embedded in most Chinese people as a common belief which guides their moral behaviors.

There are 2 reasons that I chose black pepper to do the project. On one hand, black pepper is tiny and normal, and when people religious believe in religions, they would become really tiny. On the other hand, black pepper is a kind of food, and beliefs are also like mental food for the believers.
