Process:
Time destroys. Time creates. Time Blurs. Time clarifies. The city maintains a tacit connection to its past through its inhabitants, its landmarks, and its grit and grime. Who’s gum was left on the street? Who’s shoe left a scuff mark? In all instances, a sense of unspoken and anonymous community is derived. A cohort of individuals who subconsciously absorb a collective self through common surroundings, such as sounds, smells, text, faces, and animals. Though thought of little at the moment, each element welds the power to construct an identity. All of these thoughts and more inspired the photographs I took.
Reflection:
After completing the set of images, I see concepts of time, faces, and wear in place I normally wouldn’t consider, giving me a heightened sense of the possibilities of an image.
