Space and Materiality: Containers

In this project I decided to make a jewelry box inspired by my mothers ring. I originally wanted to make grooves in the box so that I could make shelves inside the box however it was impossible to do due to how thin the plywood was. Then I wanted to make a single shelf for the ring but it was hard to do without having a support piece below the shelf. Therefore I decided to carve half of the wood out and make a dent so that the shelf would rest on the dent. I used the chisel tool to make the dent. I also made my corners 45 degrees so that it would fit together. Then I used wood glue to glue the sides together and then I used a nail gun to pin the sides together. After the nail gun I decided to use plexiglass for the cover. Then I used the drill to make holes in the glass then put a nail to stick the nail and the wood together. Overall, I thought that this project was very stressful because I had to change my idea multiple times. HoweverI am satisfied with the end product.
