Week 9: Vincent Van Gogh– vocabulary and sketchbook entry

  1. On the left hand side of your sketchbook/journal do the following writing exercise: using the new vocabulary from class, write a short paragraph describing what you did in class.  Answer these questions: what was your favorite part about using oil pastels?  What did you learn about drawing your self portrait?
  2. Use the right side of your sketchbook and create a drawing, using oil pastels, of an object from our house (this can be a pair of shoes or something from your kitchen, what ever interests you). Layer the oil pastels like we practiced in class.  Create a background similar to the one’s by Vincent Van Gogh, with lots of lines and color.

For our last class, please come prepared with 3-5 text and idea/image pairings. This will be used as the foundation for our graffiti piece. Here are some examples:
