Weekly Homework
*Please purchase an unlined art sketchbook/journal that’s no smaller than 7 x 10.
On the front cover of your Art Journal, write:
Your full name
Portfolio Development Grades 6 -8
Fall 2018 Art Sketchbook/Journal
In your Art Sketchbook/Journal after every class:
- Write the appropriate subject at the top of each page: “Ideas and Reflections” (page on the left) and “Related Vocabulary” (page on the right).
- Date the top of the Ideas and Reflections page with a complete date, e.g., September 22, 2018
- On the left-hand “Ideas and Reflections” page of your sketchbook/journal, write ideas you’ve learned and your thoughts and feelings about those ideas, e.g., today we learned about ____. This is important because_____.
- On the right-hand page of your sketchbook/journal, write related vocabulary from the Ideas and Reflections entry, e.g., line, color, shape, value, scale, composition, ink… Write the appropriate definitions for the vocabulary words. Be sure that your definitions are related to your ideas and reflections.
Use techniques like pencils, colored pencils, ink, boxes, circles, doodles and charts to help you illustrate, organize and learn the information on the Ideas and Reflections pages.
Use images for your Related Vocabulary page to supplement the definitions. You may draw the images, or you may use images from magazines.
***Keep your Art Sketchbook/Journal up-to-date and always bring them to class. I will select Art Sketchbook & Journals to read every week.
Your Art Sketchbook & Journal must be well-thought out, well-written, well-designed and neat. The Art Sketchbook/Journal both reveals what you are learning and helps you learn, at the same time.
