ARTIST STATEMENT – JANUARY 2019
Growing up with a mom who has worked in the fashion design industry her entire life, Priya Chopra learned her love for clothing, creative thinking and artistic outlets at a young age. She attended a small private school in Cincinnati, Ohio until the age of 18 where that curiosity for creativity was fostered and enlarged. She chose The New School as the foundation place for where she will be prepared to enter a career path that suits her interests in fashion. She is currently a Strategic Design and Management major.
Priya enjoys painting, drawing, and mixed media collage. Her best work was a series of self portraits done in graphite then wheatpasted on walls, buildings and different scenery in downtown Cincinnati for her AP art Exam. She has won a total of 11 Scholastic Art Awards (6 silver and 5 bronze) in the years 2014-2018 for mixed media projects, art and photography.
