Integrated Studio 2: Experiential Site Analysis

Site Plan of Station Plaza

For the site plan of Station Plaza, I measured the site using the length of my steps, which ended up being about two feet. I measured the size of the plaza, as well as the sidewalks, trees, lamp posts, and other important elements of the park.

Orthographic Drawings of Stone Bench

The object that I chose to measure and depict in an orthographic drawing is a stone bench in front of the Bronxville Veterans Memorial. This bench was measured in the length of my shoe, which was about 12 inches long.

Textures

I chose six textures to draw with crayon. From the top left, going clockwise, I did crayon rubbing to draw the stone bench, a floral pattern on the veterans memorial, a plaque on a bench, a wooden crate behind a bench, a lamp post, and tactile paving along the sidewalk.

Soundscape

I drew a sound map of the sounds I heard in 10 minutes at Station Plaza. I categorized them as sound made by me, sounds made by vehicles, sounds made by people, and misc. sounds.

Section Cut, fig. 1
Section Cut, fig. 2

These two section cuts were drawn from a perspective just outside of the park boundaries.

Here are the 8 best ‘taste’ photos I chose to represent the 100 photos I took.
