1.Describe the general character and specific design features that led you to choose the shoe you chose to work with.
The object I chose was a stuffed narwhal that my boyfriend bought me when we visited the aquarium in Long Beach CA. I chose this object because it was interesting and I really like my stiffed animal.
- Reflect on what your shoe choice might say about your identity in relation to your culture.
The narwhal might reflect on my culture because I am from California by the beach and I purchased the object at an aquarium.
- Describe the line quality or qualities used in your sculpture. Be specific. Discuss how you made decisions about how to use line direction/orientation, thickness, character, color, connections, etc in your design.
I wanted to show the texture of the narwhal so I made the wire uneven to represent that. I used a ticker gauge wire to show where the seams were.
- Discuss your strategy for employing cross contour in your sculpture.
I tried to stick to the cross contour drawing that we did; I used it as a guide. I added more lines to add structural integrity.
- Describe something you would do differently if you could make your sculpture again AND an aspect of your work that is particularly strong.
I would use two different types of wires that were different colors to show the different colors of the narwhal. I think that over all my wire sculpture is strong and shows the major details of the object.
