“A time when my understanding of something changed…”
My understanding of things is always changing and evolving. For this project, I chose to focus on my idea of New York. I wanted to contact the glitz and glamour of what I thought New York was like when I was younger vs how I know it to be now that I live and go to school here.
As I was laying out and playing with the photos I noticed that the photos created a line that connected and went throughout all the pictures. I really like this aspect of the piece, its like a separate piece of art that is connected with the project.
At the beginning of the semester, we worked with collage and I really liked it, it was fun and interesting to me. I used collage in this project but it was different because I collaged in Photoshop and then added and analogue aspect on top. I used the whole spectrum of values from the whitest white to the blackest black.
