Regretfully I cannot find pictures of making the mask initially but after finishing the paper mache I thought it looked awful. I wasn’t sure where to go with it, it was so warped and inhuman looking, so I decided to lean into that. I dampened it quite a bit to enhance the weird curves in the face and started to paint it white.
After it dried I planned to paint it with different colors and make a design but I ended up really liking the textures and the way it looked with just the white paint. It was sort of translucent and skin-colored. I continued painting layers of white until I ran out of paint and ended up with this! It is super creepy and I love it.
