For my project, I wanted to portray the sensation of feeling alone in a very crowded place. In New York City people tend to forget how easy it is to be alone, you assume there are so many people around you could never feel lonely but that is not always the case. I used long muted sounds I recorded around the city, including subway doors opening, people talking, and cars passing. I distorted their length and pitches to give a very full yet almost empty feel to the piece. The piece is a minute long and was inspired by my feeling lonely as I traveled the city to record these sounds.
