Integrative Studio 2: Fashion – Project Submission Color Palette and Textile Board

1.  Make an LP Post on your concept for your Collection Illustration and Textile unit.  What aspects of your theme will you explore in illustration and textile?  Why? How does this idea relate to your seminar research question development? Write one Paragraph.

In illustration and textile, I wanted to explore colors, specifically Pantone’s 2016 Colors of the Year, Rose Quartz and Serenity, in relation to color association with gender. This is because colors are associated with many different ideas and concepts, such as people, places, things, feelings, type of weather, even describing other senses. This idea relates to my seminar research question development, which is how there is a lack of diversity in fashion runways. The color association between pink and blue correlates with pink is for girl, and blue is for boy. Similarly, fashion brands want to brand their models to have a certain look, certain skin tone, and certain figure. Marginalized communities aren’t as represented, and there are a lot of stereotypes involving the idea of how fashion runways should be.

2.  Add your final color presentation board to your Learning Portfolio for grading.  Also include screen shots of your color editing process and sketchbook work that brainstorms your inspirations. See the student process below:
