Perspective

Box Drawings

Planning Sketches

Final Drawing

perspective-drawing

Doing observational drawing  prior to the perspective typography helped a lot. I was able to understand space and 3-D figures much easier. The observational drawings and this project are actually similar in a way. They both deal with shapes, space and creating a 3-D figure.

I expressed the meaning of the text in my design by using a drawing that has it’s own meaning and history attached to it. The outline of Africa is often used as a sign of black liberation, black power, etc. To me it’s a simple design that holds a lot of meaning. The bars are meant to represent the oppression of power in the African-American community. I’m still learning my way around art/drawing , so I wanted to produce a piece that met the project requirements and was in my skill range, since it wasn’t much time for error. I used the shadow and contrast skills that I learned doing the observational drawings.
