Time Archive

These layouts are a result of me randomly shuffling my 30 images and placing them in a grid format. I repeated this process three times to help visualize my pictures in different ways and next to different pictures. This later helped me narrow my images down to 14 moments.

2.

This strip is representative of the 14 images I narrowed down from the 30 original images.

3. Over the course of a week, I wrote down random phrases and thoughts I came across.

-I think I can, but no one else does.

– Make money, not friends.

– I hate Celine without the accent.

– We lost our bike.

– Can we stay like this forever?

– I had to run away from you, or else I’d run away with you.

– Is that so?

– I think about you a lot, sometimes.

– You don’t say?

– Maybe there’s nothing wrong.

– I don’t want to be nice, and you know that.

– Go away, a little closer.

Overall, this project was challenging. It pushed me to understand time in a new perspective and document it as such. Then came the task of telling time as a story rather than as a clock. But, the hardest part was definitely the construction- I am a perfectionist with these types of things, so when the pages didn’t line up correctly or fold the way I wanted I got frustrated. However, the challenge caused me to dig deeper and look at tasks in a new way.
