This piece was a visual created by E & S where Emily did the ink work and Stephanie did the digital and colors. The concept behind this work is that in this society, people mask their words in order to achieve a higher status. It’s as if they are blowing a piece of bubble gum that takes them higher. However, the bubble eventually pops, and the higher the float the harder they fall. The bubble represents their achievements and lies they’ve told to go higher. The larger the bubble, the more lies they’ve told to gain higher achievements and status. Once the lie they’ve told builds up to a maximum, the bubble pops and they hit the ground hard.
Inside, E & S, Performance, 2019
Inside is a special performance piece that was done by E & S during their talk at the festival of the new. This is 3 years after they finished their undergraduate degree at Parsons. The concept behind this piece is the unspoken words and negativity that people carry inside them. This negativity could originate from themselves, or it could be forced on by others. No matter what it is, many would coverup these negatives with the smile on their faces.
