Stephanie Geng is currently a first-year student at Parsons School of Design, studying illustrations. Drawing and depicting unique stories have always been an interest of Stephanie’s, this was one of the main reasons she joined Parsons heading for an illustration major. In Stephanie’s first semester at Parsons, she was able to experiment with many different forms of art and mediums. For pieces such as “Ducks”, Stephanie was able to obtain skills and knowledge needed to work with casting plaster, and for pieces such as “Self-portrait” she was able to work with the risograph machine. Through the experience of creating these pieces, she was able to take a better look at herself and her past. By creating both 3D and 2D work, Stephanie was able to discover her love for both 3D work and 2D work. Through both her 3D and 2D work, the constant theme of childhood memories and past was repeated and ultimately linked all of her pieces together. After a semester of development, Stephanie came to the realization that she is interested in creating work that is personal and closely linked with her self. She is very proud of her gained skill sets during the first semester and will continue to produce both 3D and 2D works with a variety of mediums in the future.
