Integrative Seminar 2 Final Reflection

I chose the topic visual culture for this semester’s studio/seminar because I thought it would be beneficial toward my major in Communication Design.Coming into Integrative Seminar 2: Visual Culture class, I had very narrow idea of what visual culture could be. After doing the readings on it and having discussion in class, it opened my eyes to what can be called “visual culture”. Also through different videos we watched throughout the semester, it widened my knowledge of what can be visual culture.

In my last semester seminar class, we didn’t write about our artwork we created in studio class. The class was more like creating creative pieces through writing. So in the beginning of this class, it was challenging for me to writing about my work and the process of creating it. I especially had hard time finding references to explain my work. I usually don’t look at other people’s work when I’m creating my own artwork. However, after the Windows projects, I think I became more conscious about having references. Befor or while I was creating something, I started looking up artists and what was going on around the world to enrich the story and meaning behind my work.

I was glad the writings we did in seminar class was actually related to what we were doing in studio class. Everything I wrote compliments and enriches my artworks. Overall this year, I think I improved in explaining my work and also putting meaning into what I was making.
