Bridge 4: Process Documentation

Before creating the fashion look, I did lots of research about the designer — the first keyword of deconstructivism. The most impressed designer was Martin Margiela. He establishes the garments with the swiss army bag. During the research I realized, there is no limitation to creating the design even it was the existed garment. The color inspired by Malevich’s ‘Black Square.’ At 2017, the museum found the different tone of color behind the painting. Then they are hypothesis the behind of art there are various paint will exist. The theory was very interested me that behind the black there are different colors are exist. The graphics work also inspired by the painting. When I look at the painting, I feel the naiveness of black color. Then the naivness seems like the beginning of the world. Therefore, I symbolize the square as the world.

This project starts from a few months ago. I collect lots of garments from my friends that they do not wear anymore. I only selected the black color and deconstructed them as flat fabric. I sew each piece to create the material for new garments. Next step is drawing the pattern on the material and create the garments.

I was searching for the venue. I hope to find the landfill. However, it was challenging to find the venue that I want to. At the long island city. I could find a place that looks abandoned.

After I took the photo, I delete the model to express the garments stand itself like invisible men.

I play around the composition to show as minimal as I can first time. However, at one point, I realize it does not have to be minimal. Therefore, I applied brush stroke collaborate with thin lines.

I did not want to explain too much about the project. I hope people feel the photo and garments and think about the curiosity about the work. I wish, from the interest, the audience searching for the fast fashion on their own. Thus, I put the QR code for the minimal explanation of guideline of my thought process.
