The Mailbox – Old Tech

Topic: ‘Old Tech’

In modern day society we really focus on the speed of how fast we can send a message to someone instead of focusing on the value of what a simple physically mailed message can mean to those around us. The increasing lack of privacy makes keeping your conversations confidential very difficult. But with ‘old tech’ such as the mailbox, we can focus on how to maintain the privacy that we used to have a few decades ago, before the influx of the internet, modern day text messaging and emailing.

The layout of the dimensions was explored and made into a cohesive way so that each hole could slot into another or act as a place to hang the object or act as an entrance for the mail.

For this project, we decided to use the laser cutter in order to recreate and reflect the unique shape of the back of the mouse being transformed into a mailbox.
