Stop Motion – 100 objects, 100+ pictures.

Process:

Since the materials we are to use are a hundred objects that we either obtained since we got here in university or brought with us all the way from home, I decided to set the environment in the place that I arrived in first – the dormitory. My setting of objects was my dorm’s desk, the lamp and the charging outlets also being objects that I brought over. The 100 objects that I planned to use are mostly essentials brought over such as toiletry and tools. When I began, I lined up the shot with the rule of thirds pointed at the table top and the wall. The lamp would be turned on in the first 2 frames, with 50% lighting in the first and 100% in the second to give the setting more life. I wanted this video style to be cute, with items constantly being added in and piling up on the desk. I decided to use sound effects from video games to pop every time an item gets added in, for comedic effect. Towards the end, I decided to move the camera downwards to show more items that are underneath the table and not just have a dead scene throughout the entire playthrough. As a finale, I decided to toss in a stack of homework readings right on top of everything, as a symbol of work incoming.

Improvements:

I feel that some things I could improve on is to get a better setup (use a tripod so that the frames to alter too much.), and maybe pay a little bit more attention to make the composition less messy, though it was partly my intention to make it look messy.
