Memory & Identity Cards

These 5 memories were what characterized me today. I chose the color and texture of cardboard and hand drew the imagery and text in black ink.

Awaken:

My mother told me one day, when I was still a stubborn child refusing to acknowledge her effort of trying to help me. I refused and refused, until she finally broke out to me a sentence, a sentence of the most straightforward tear jerking words that I will never forget. She told me “Mom and dad can’t be by your side forever, you need to listen to us while you can.” I felt that I was jolted awake after so many years of thinking I was invincible and was always right about what I did.

Experience:

Ever since my contact with video games came at the age of 6 by my older brother, I’ve always taken interest in learning through action and games. A lot of knowledge I gathered was due to me wondering about certain events or references within the game. This card shows the first gaming device that started it all – the NDS.

Treasure:

This is the scene where I made friends with my best pal since grade one in elementary school. I since then treasured every friend I made and continued to try to meet new people. If they’re nice to me, then in return I cooperate with the friendship.

Determination:

This is the time where my iron will kicked in after being insulted in front of my family members about gaming and not doing well academically. I proved them wrong with a fist on the table and announcing my determination. It has since then been a part of me to try and do everything to the best of my abilities, not just for myself, but for others who helped me along the way, I must make them proud.

Observe:

This was a survival tactic I practiced since high school. I would take time to analyze my surrounding environment and people. After I learn about the problems to overcome, I will find my way around it. It has since been my way of problem solving.
