Bridge 2: Castaway / Shades of Memory (With partner)

Upon sharing stories with my partner Maia, I discovered that we had moments in our life where the situation was quite alike. For instance, possible subjects we’ve decided on for the presentation were the same, such as our fathers for instance being farther away from us when it comes to family. We chose one particular moment that meant greatly to us to convert into a visual imagery. For Maia’s story, it was about when she received her acceptance letter into Parsons. She at the time was happy as people congratulated her. However, when she turned to see her friend, she found out that her friend did not get in, meaning they were going to be separated, worse upon horrible at that moment. I was not able to include actual objects to enhance the memory, for my memory included speech and emotions purely. Same for Maia, no objects were brought up to enhance the memory, though it is a clear memory recalled from a recent time, meaning it would be much more accurate. A person’s story may change in a lot of ways when retold by another person. This is because of our unique ways of interpreting what we see and hear of the things around us. Take for instance when I hear Maia’s story, I would not be able to feel the same emotions that she felt while she went through this memory, the feeling to be separated and also seeing that her friend did not achieve something after she put in so much work for.
