Original ideas and thoughts
My original idea is to make a booklet about simple information of Hogan Place but mainly focus on the function of this indoor park. Through this book, I would like to express the ideas of my design process to let people actually feel the artists’ feelings. I think people including me usually ignore lots of details of designers’ work. Therefore, when people take a look at this booklet, they can get more interesting ideas of this giant artwork for entertainment.
What is more, they can also use to this booklet as an advertisement for recommending to their friends. Visitors can this free booklet anywhere at this indoor park and bring it to home. If they are really interested in this place, they can just show this booklet to their family or friends.

The main colors of this booklet might be green. There are not going to be too many complicated patterns inside, but some simplified pictures with several words.

Artist Book (Final results)
For my artist book, I design it as a guidebook for visitors who are going to the building that I created for my studio class at Hogan Place and Worth Street. My inspiration is from the booklet that people usually take when they visit a museum, which introduces the functions of each floor and gives a little image and texts about floors. My book does not put much texts into it because I think without the texts, people can enjoy the environment by themselves. I give the general information in the book to say each floor’s function for people to entertain but there are no such details to explain everything. I believe the real surprised should be found by visitors themselves instead of given by the guidebook.
For the shape of the book, I made it into regular guidebook shape which is vertical rectangular accordion booklet. When people open it, they can get the general information of the whole building and go to the floor they are interested. The illustrations inside the booklet are designed to bring the feelings of nature and having a comfortable life as well. The illustrations for each floor depict the outline of the things people can automatically match their common knowledge but without giving many details. The main colors for the booklet are pink and green which obviously represent the flowers and leaves. It is another way to bring visitors sense of feeling of nature.

Bridge 5 Reflection
The open questions I might open to the future explorers are the ways they would like to display or exhibit on the third floor. My plan for the third floor is to give free space for any kind of updated green plants exhibitions, so I think if people have different or even better ideas about how to deal with the third floor’s function, feel free to play with it. Visitors can also give our opinions for the third floor about what kind of things they want to see or what they expect to see when they are coming to visit this place next time.
For the artist book, I need to develop my skills to summarize all the things together into several pages, which is opposite to the story I wrote for the bridge 4. For the story, I need to use my imagination with the real fact to make up an interesting story. However, for the booklet, I need to only use simple illustration to give the accurate information to the visitors. I believe visitors definitely do not have enough patience to finish reading a long story. What they want to get is usually about the simple and summarized ideas about the whole building. I learn how to extend my words into long story and shrink it down to the several words through these projects.
Through the whole semester, I learned more about how to research and get inspiration through research. Researching becomes an important part in my process of making projects. For essays, researching helps to find stronger evidence to prove my points and fulfill my content. For art projects, researching can help me to form my ideas together. Sometimes it is hard to draw or express my complete idea, but through researching, I am able to find the similar structures or ideas to build my imagination step by step.
