New recycling and composting rules for flower shops industry

According to the United Nations, the world’s population will grow from today’s 7.5 billion people to 10 billion in 2050. And as natural resources like farmland and water become scarce, living in a safe environment will become an even greater challenge. We understand that climate changes and all other environmental issues are real and urgent problems for people to be aware of.  Therefore, recycling becomes an important part of the process of protecting the environment. The purpose of implementing this composting system into businesses and facilities in the flower industry is basically to transform waste from flower shops into reusable resources. Furthermore, the system will help businesses to reach sustainability in the operating settings.

This recycling and composting system is trying to reach a sustainable way of waste recycling in a daily flower shop setting. Most of the flower shops usually send their organic waste to a specific composting company and it’s actually a quite big amount of expense for a flower shop. This system tends to help the flower shops in both eco-friendly and economical ways which makes the organic waste reusable and valuable. Living sustainably doesn’t always require enormous inputs and efforts, it’s more about our awareness of protecting the environment.

This new policy is applying to flower shops or businesses in the flower industry in New York City.  Businesses are required to recycle organic wastes and materials and ensure to their best ability that those recyclable materials are properly composted. Employees should be able to understand the process of this new recycling and composting system. Once they understand the process, it helps them to further implementing the idea and meanwhile creating a system within the flower shop.
