Learning Portfolio Post #4

This is a “wonder bra” from the 1960s. It not only covers the body but also interacts with who’s wearing the bra. In fact, this is the world’s first push-up bra. The birth of wonder bra shows that there was a demand for a certain body type back in the 60s — a fuller bust. Like the corset from the 1600s, wonder bra does change the shape of one’s body dramatically. However, to me, both items are restricting the ability of movement from women.

As a girl who wears a size 32b bra, I myself have tried a bunch of push up bras. Feeling confident with or without them, putting on a push-up bra is just a lot of fun for me. It gave me plastic surgery effect boobs that made me feel like I’m a different person. At the same time, it felt very heavy a baggage that does not belong to my body.

So here are my thoughts on both wonder bra and corset: You don’t need it, but definitely fun to play with.
