For this assignment, we created a visual vocabulary of the three iterations we created each week throughout the semester. As the final, we used our visual vocabulary to create an item. Below is my process.

As I started this project, I wanted to create something that visually demonstrated the process in a creative form. I decided on the idea of a puzzle, as it relates to the process of me piecing this work together symbolically and literally.

Feedback

The feedback I received from my peers and professors was more appreciative than critical. I found it helpful, yet I also wanted some critique on the puzzle design. Some peers said that it is a lot of content but although the chaos it fits together as a collection. I was also wondering what my peers would have liked to see in relationship to the shapes or puzzle-like shapes that I could have included, and considered but didn’t want to alter the images too intensely.

Reflection

I enjoyed developing/discovering the visual elements that I use throughout my artistic work. I think it really helped me understand my own strengths or the elements I often follow out of habit. With this project specifically I wish I tried to solidify the pieces on cardstock or a thicker material to give it that real puzzle-like feeling. I look forward to tracing my artistic journey in the future.
