Journal assignment for proposal- Peter Cooper Legacy was based on his idea of wanting to create education for immigrants…I would like to further honor this legacy within the cooper square park. In his park there is a monument of Peter Cooper himself, however, I would like to build upon this and honor what his purpose was. And this purpose was to provide education to all. I believe doing this would provide many with the clarity of what Peter Cooper stood for, furthering honoring him, as well as bringing significance to such a huge cause. I would make a structure that would be placed somewhere in the square, that would be built off books. These books would act as a wall, that children have to climb (like an obstacle) to get to freedom, but also a good education. The audience of this work would be those that pass the park and want to learn about who Peter Cooper was.
