Megan Galante – Interior textiles

When I was trying to center myself, I was in a cafe in Nolita that had really cute wallpaper and interior textiles. I just looked up interior textile designers and I found Megan Galante. To be honest, she caught my eye because my mom’s maiden name was Galante and I have never seen it outside of my church at home so I was curious to see if I was related to her. She is from New York, so the answer is no but I do know that there were some Galante men from the same island as my great great grandfather in the mafia on the east coast. Besides that funny coinsidence, herr work was very colorful and bright and more about design than art and meaning which I thought was cool. Her work is really cool to me because she is able to insert her aesthetic into interiors without being an interior designer.

Megan studied at FIT in textile design. She was also a fine artist. She is a painter. Currently she is known for her fashion paintings and minimalistic style. Her eye for color pairings is what makes her stand out in my eyes. She has designed for target, ralph lauren, anthropology and many other places. She often turns her art into wall hangings, wall papers, clocks, phone cases, headboards, ect.

Bio from her website:

After studying painting at The Fashion Institute of Technology, Megan entered the home textile field, as she wished to combine her talents with her love for interiors. Over the years she has done just that and more by hand painting designs for upholstery, bedding, throw pillows, wall covering, and stationary.

In search of more space she moved her studio to the Hudson Valley where she currently resides.
